The Sonzapote tree, or monkey apple, can grow up to 50m tall and is therefore one of the jungle giants.
As the English name suggests, the fruit is highly sought after by monkeys. It has soft, orange-brownish fruit flesh with an unmistakable marzipan smell and taste.
